Much less to troubleshoot, and the license file is the vendor's problem if it doesn't work, while the USBanywhere device is our problem if it (or it's client software) doesn't work. It works, but we have a 16 port device in our rack with no dongles because we've went to license files on everything now. They require client agents on the servers running so that the hardware is mapped to the VM as the actual hardware device. They usually tie that license file to a MAC address, so you have to set a static MAC in Hyper-V before you replicate (or change it later when it is powered off), but that works much better than the network USB ports. (Especially when they told us they support a Hyper-V install.) However, we've been going back to the vendor to provide a license file solution in lieu of the hardware dongle. You have this working with license dongles specifically? Or just normal USB devices?USBanywhere is what we purchased for this solution as well. We use USBanywhere for exactly this purpose at our office, been working great for the last three years.ĪlexLooks to be about half the price.
